Gleix returns with a brand new—absolutely colossal!—collection of live ambient soundscapes. In Light Of, Pt. 2: Ocean Floor is the natural progression of the techniques first laid out on 2018's In Light Of. Improvised and meditative, these tracks could be just as easily incorporated into a spiritual practice as they could be background music for studying or working.

On September 28, 2019, with an expanded palette featuring a circuit bent Roland TR-626, Moog Sub Phatty, TASCAM Portastudio, lap steel and digital piano/strings, Gleix performed a marathon set to an unwinding audience in a cloud of dense fog at a massive warehouse in Brooklyn. The resulting audio was captured from a variety of sources, and later pared down to the two hour running time presented here.

While Ocean Floor's predecessor featured a great deal of variety, its energy remained generally consistent throughout. Ocean Floor, on the other hand, is broken into two distinct sections: The first, tracks one through five, bring to mind the droning strings, washed out piano, and glitchy TR-626 heard on In Light Of. The second, which includes the remaining 13 tracks, frequently features more steady, easily discernible rhythms and begins to enter into downtempo, trip-hop, and even IDM territory.

Ocean Floor continues to develop In Light Of's theme of delving into light and dark. This time, the listener is submerged into the murky depths of the sea. There are moments when you feel weightless, slowly drifting in an endless black. Other times, you finally catch a glimpse of the sun's rays peaking beneath the surface.

Whether you have time for two tracks or the full two hours, there's a vast sea of sounds to explore and get lost in. As with the actual oceans here on Earth, the more time we spend appreciating their majesty and uncovering their mystery, the more we are sure to gain.
