about

Gleix (aka George Gleixner) is a Brooklyn based composer, electronic musician, and visual artist whose sprawling catalog has ranged from chip music to breakcore, ambient to orchestral, and seemingly everything in between. In his double debut for Lagom, Gleix explores two fundamentally different approaches to generative music.

On Circle Lawn Patchwork, Gleix embraces the worlds of hardware and software equally, making heavy use of the Sequentix Cirklon sequencer in conjunction with a slew of analog synths and drum machines alongside the open-source virtual modular VCV Rack. The result is a warm wash of ambient techno that elicits the sounds and stylings of mid-90s braindance progenitors.

And while Circle Lawn Patchwork features tracks meticulously sequenced on the Cirklon, played back and recorded in real-time with live editing and flourishes, In Light Of ventures into starkly more improvisational territory.

Utilizing a single microphone for voice and a limited palette of instruments routed through a variety of delays, reverbs, and pitch shifters, Gleix crafts an expansive journey through a fog of minimal piano motifs, somber strings, and rippling percussion. Recorded in its entirety live and in a single take, there's a surprising amount of detail to admire and dynamic variation to get lost in.
